    What you will do

    • Day 1: 1st day

Your journey begins with a private pick-up from Athens or Athens International Airport in a luxury, air-conditioned minivan, accompanied by your professional English-speaking guide and private driver.

At Delphi, once regarded as the navel of the world, explore the renowned archaeological site & museum where the Oracle of Apollo shaped the decisions of ancient Greeks and influenced the political and spiritual life of the ancient world. Uncover the fascinating stories, myths, and mysteries that made Delphi one of antiquity’s most revered sanctuaries.

Continue to Kalambaka and enjoy an overnight stay in a deluxe room at a four-star hotel with spectacular views of Meteora including dinner at the hotel.

    • Savor breakfast in your hotel and then travel for nearby UNESCO-listed Meteora for a tour of the centuries-old monasteries seemingly suspended between earth and sky. Discover the remarkable history, spiritual traditions, and architectural wonders of this extraordinary monastic landscape.

The monasteries are perched on top of towers of sandstone, which for centuries provided totally inaccessible retreats for the monks.

In the past there were no steps and the main access to the monasteries was by means of a net that was hitched over a hook and hoisted up by rope and a hand cranked windlass to winch towers overhanging the chasm. Each community developed its own resources and by the end of the 14th century, the Grand Meteoron emerged as the dominant community. The rock monasteries have been characterized by UNESCO as a unique phenomenon of cultural heritage.

You will enjoy a guided tour of two of the six monasteries.

After our visit we begin out return journey to Athens.

On the way you will stop to visit the monument of Leonidas where the 300 Spartans fought against the Persian army at Thermopylae (Hot Gates) and the Thermopylae Visitor Center.

Continuing our journey, we arrive in Athens early in the evening (6:30 - 7:00pm)
