    Overview

One of the places that best represents the power of the Medici family, the splendor of Michelangelo's sculptures and the glitz of the Chapel of the Princes: you will enjoy the splendid San Lorenzo Basilica, that was the parish church of the Medici. All official and important ceremonies of the family took place in this church, actually built by the Medici's architect: Filippo Brunelleschi, the genius of the Florence Dome.

In San Lorenzo is also the Old Sacresty and many manufacts by the sculptor Donatello!

The Medici tombs and memorial are in the same church and have a separate entrance......this are the  famous Medici Chapels, a perfect work by Michelangelo! You will meet Cosimo The Elder, Lorenzo the Magnificient, his brother Giuliano, Cosimo The First Granduke and all the family, including the wives, all of them are peacefully resting here...after a life with honour and also some troubles!
