Overview

The experience starts in our blooming garden, where you learn about the Cretan culture, history, culinary customs, fresh ingredients, products, even about typical words that locals use to describe their food while sipping on a glass of indigenous Cretan wine. You will have the chance to make simple but mouth-watering cold starters and ask your adviser questions and cooking tips so to recreate all, when back home.

Then, it’s behind the scene, in our kitchen with your sleeves rolled up, to get involved with preparing and cooking your main creation.

Along with our chefs, you may select classical Cretan dishes, as well as ones with a modern twist.

Once everything is cooked and flavours are soaked up, it’s time to sit to the table tucking into your handmade masterpieces under the candlelight, sharing feelings, laughter & food as Cretans do. Meze, appetizers, main course, dessert is there but this wouldn’t be a typical Cretan culinary feast without slowly savouring every drop of your raki!

Hosted at Avli, this premium culinary masterclass invites you to roll up your sleeves and cook alongside our celebrated head chef, Vasilis Leonidou. Discover the unique traditions, rich histories & distinct flavors that make Cretan cuisine celebrated worldwide.
The hands-on practice starts with prepping cold starters and traditional appetizers.
Under the guidance of Chef Vasilis & our kitchen team, you will learn professional culinary techniques and helpful tips so you can confidently recreate these dishes back in your own kitchen.
Next, you will dive into preparing your main courses. Together with the chefs, you will learn to craft a combination of time-honored Cretan dishes, alongside modern gastronomic twists.
Once the hard work is done, it is time to sit together at a candlelit table in our historic 16th-century courtyard! The very same space where Venetian nobles gathered centuries ago. You will share thoughts, laughter, and an exceptional 5-course feast featuring the self-made masterpieces you cooked together. From traditional meze & seasonal appetizers to the main course & a delightful dessert, the table will be filled with the authentic warmth of true Cretan hospitality.
