    What you will do

    • Tempio Di Segesta

The archaeological area of Segesta, which became an archaeological park in 2013 [2], includes several sites. The area, since the nineties, has been enormously re-evaluated thanks to numerous discoveries that have affected the ruins of the ancient city of Elima.

      the Doric temple,

      theater

      sanctuary of Mango district

agora and house of the navarca (Greek-Roman era).

medieval area (city walls, castle annexed to the theater, two Norman churches, the medieval quarter and the mosque).

      2 h

    • Erice, an ancient Phoenician and Greek city, perched at 751 m above sea level on the mountain bearing the same name, crowned by a triangular plateau with a terrace overlooking the sea.

Defended by ramparts and walls, the city is a labyrinth of cobbled streets and narrow passages.

In ancient times, Erice was known for its temple where the Phoenicians worshiped Astarte, the Greeks Aphrodite and the Romans Venus. Mount Eryx served as a reference point for navigators of which Venus soon became the protector.

At night, a large fire lit in the sacred area served as a lighthouse. The fame of Venus Ericina became such that a temple was also dedicated to her in Rome and her cult spread throughout the Mediterranean.

      3 h

    • Visit to the Trapani salt pans, characterized by white salt dunes and windmills for grinding the latter. Visit the salt museum to learn about the history of how this precious element has been produced for centuries.
